I assume those announcements are saying “do not put any part of your body past the barriers or you will turn into a red smear”

I’m a fair HSR geek so I love these videos, especially the longer 16-car trains. This station’s nice enough to have platform barriers.

Train comes in around 1:30 for people who don’t want to waste a minute and a half. For people who do want to waste a minute and a half, the train still comes in around 1:30, but you won’t be annoyed at waiting.

I’m sure that feels pretty impressive. When I’ve been waiting on platforms in the UK and an InterCity 125 came through on the express tracks, that was a serious gust of wind, and those are going at most around 200km /h. I’ve never gotten the same feel from the Acela, but I suspect that’s just because it isn’t going anywhere near top speed through the stations I’ve been at where it doesn’t stop.
